Jon Stewart is back daily show Last night was to talk more about the “October Surprise” that could have an impact on the upcoming presidential election. The late-night host said anything is possible, but like the infamous show, it probably won’t work out. access hollywood tape.
“Why is October Surprise always so shitty?” he said. “Why can’t we have a good October surprise that unites our country?” He added that for some reason, these last-minute revelations and incidents seem to benefit Republicans more than Democrats.
“I don’t see how we would lose if monkeypox were to spread!” Stewart joked. “What does it actually mean about political parties to say that wars, strikes, and natural disasters favor political parties? “Sir, elections are coming, leaving the people shocked and hopeless. If you can do it, you can do it.”
For Stewart, the biggest surprise of October so far was Elon Musk’s appearance at Donald Trump’s rally over the weekend. “His October surprise was that he came out as a MAGA,” Stewart said, showing a clip of a mask declaring himself a “dark MAGA.”
“Oh, Dark Maga,” Stewart replied. “I didn’t know there was a flavor! I wonder if they’ll have a peppermint bark MAGA for the holidays. Or maybe a pumpkin spice MAGA.”
He added: “Now, one of the richest men in the world controlling one of the most influential platforms in the world could be a recipe for what some might consider election interference. You might think, stupid, stupid people. Election interference is what Mark Zuckerberg did.”
The host recalled the 2016 and 2020 elections, when it was Trump who accused Zuckerberg of election interference. They also pointed to the double standard of Musk offering money to fans to register to vote in battleground states. President Trump appears to believe that Musk’s actions do not constitute interference. But you know what happens? Sebastian Stan’s new biopic apprentice.
“Oh, come on! Is that election interference?” said Ms. Stewart. “Maybe it’s election interference, but you should be a little proud that you’re being played by Sebastian Stan.”
After detailing various claims about election interference by Trump, Stewart played a clip of Musk saying the left is trying to take away free speech.
“Elon, haven’t you seen the rest of the show?” Stewart replied. “Movies that President Trump doesn’t like will be sued. He hates tech moguls and wants to put them in jail. Only Trump supporters can speak out without consequences. Well, that’s not free speech. That doesn’t work. I don’t know if his support for free speech is worth “flaying.” However, that is not the case. ”
It then played another clip of Musk saying, “But at least the Constitution is intact and exists to ensure the First Amendment. The Second Amendment exists to ensure the First Amendment. We exist to do that.”
“Guns don’t protect our freedom of speech,” Stewart responded. “Our freedom of speech is protected by the constitutional consent of the governed. It is not based on the threat of violence. It is based on elections, the organization of referendums, and the judicial system. Our social contract provides so many avenues for solving these problems, allowing both sides to be heard and judged, mostly by guns. It seems like it’s protecting the speech of people who are.”
The host continued, “I think this is a method of intimidation, and it’s actually being invoked irresponsibly and recklessly, because I think some of you in your crowd might have been shadowbanned by Facebook.” I mean, just to be clear, you’re in Butler, Pennsylvania, and the reason you’re there is because of the freedom of speech in this country. That’s why you’re there. The point of society is that guns don’t determine what’s legal or what’s illegal at the moment. I would like to trade a government that provides many remedies for my concerns, regardless of the situation, for a situation where my rights are determined by how many militias agree with me. I don’t think so.”
